CBMR Opening Day – November 24
The first day of Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s 60th Anniversary winter season.

Thanksgiving Nordic Ski Camp – November 25 – November 28
This annual early season training camp hosted by Crested Butte Nordic offers on-snow group clinics with personalized coaching that caters to all ability levels. Camp is capped off Sunday morning with the first race of the Pinnacle Orthopedics Community Race Series.

CB Nordic/Pinnacle Orthopedics Community Race Series – November 28, December 12, January 15, January 16, January 30, February 10, February 15, February 19, March 5, March 9
CB Nordic’s Pinnacle Orthopedics Community Race Series is bigger and better than ever, with 10 races across the valley will allow you to have fun and stay fit all winter. Rock on Ice – December-March
An ice carving festival in Mountaineer Square in Mt. Crested Butte in celebration of the holiday season. Carvings will occur in December and stay up through much of the winter season.

Sweaty Kids Film Festival – December 2
A celebration of unprofessional local talent, artistically and athletically, at the Center for the Arts. Come watch a wide array of outdoor “edits” (mini-movies) while enjoying drinks, a raffle and general hooliganism. Avalanche Awareness Night – December 4
Presented by Black Tie Ski Rental, the Crested Butte Avalanche Center (CBAC) Avalanche Awareness Night returns with a hybrid in-person and virtual night of informative and entertaining presentations and video to help you stay safe in the backcountry. And as always, the raffle of the year! Event will be from 6-8 p.m. at the Center for the Arts, and streaming online through CBAC’s Facebook page. Beacon Brush Up – December 5
Dust off that avalanche beacon and head to the Crested Butte Community School with a backcountry refresher brought to you by the Crested Butte Avalanche Center (CBAC). Professional guides and avy forecasters will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help beginners to advanced users fine-tune their skills.

Light Up The Nights – December 10-11
Join the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce for tree lighting celebrations and Santa Claus in Mountaineer Square in Mt. Crested Butte and on Elk Ave. in Crested Butte.

Joanna Connor – December 18
All hail the queen of blues-rock guitar as she makes the trek from Chicago in her first appearance in the Steddy Theater at the Center of the Arts. Santa’s Sleigh – December 24
Santa comes to the base area during après for a last-minute visit with festive holiday cheer and activities.

WinterFest – December 28 and 29
Join the Crested Butte Film Festival at its annual WinterFest. Experience the stoke of Warren Miller on December 28 at 7 p.m. and a not-to-be missed double feature on December 29 at 6 p.m. Check www.cbfilmfest.org for details.

New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks – December 31
Crested Butte’s finest ski and snowboard instructors wind their way down the mountain during the torchlight parade. The fireworks show will start as the first instructors make their way into the base area.

Cirque du Soiree NYE Party – December 31
An immersive theatrical experience, carnival and gala in one at the Center for the Arts, and the only fabulous way to ring in the New Year. 12th Night Bonfire –January 6
Round out the holiday season with this annual Christmas tree bonfire at the Four-way parking lot. If a bonfire is not approved, Christmas trees will be chipped and mulched instead. Visit the cbchamber.com for updates closer to the event.

Tiny Beautiful Things – January 7-9
Enjoy a staged reading starring award-winning, acclaimed actors at the Center for the Arts. Based on the best-selling book by Cheryl Strayed, this absorbing and life-affirming play follows the relationships between an anonymous advice columnist named Sugar and the many real-life readers. Field Trip to the Magic Meadows Yurt – January 12

Leftover Salmon – January 15-16

Shamarr Allen + the Underdawgs – January 27
Fusing elements of jazz, hip-hop, trap, rock, R&B, pop, and marching band music, this is the quintessential NOLA brass band, live at the Center for the Arts. Blister Summit 2022 – February 20-23, February 24-27
Located in Blister’s hometown of Mt. Crested Butte, the Blister Summit is the only consumer-focused gear test and demo event in the world. Test skis and snowboard, talk to industry founders, ski with Blister reviewers, find a new ski buddy or 10 and have a great time!

Alley Loop Nordic Marathon – February 5
A Nordic race like no other, starting, finishing and passing through downtown Crested Butte, with the novel experience of skiing upon Town’s quaint streets, bridges and alleyways. With 42k, 21k, 10k, 5k & 1k/ 3k youth events, here’s a course for everyone!

Colorado Crafted Tasting Event –February 5
This annual “Best Apres Ski Party” of the season features some of Colorado’s favorite craft breweries, wineries, cideries, distilleries and local fare. Held in the CBMR base area, it includes live music in addition to libations and tasty treats.

Galactic – February 6
The acclaimed New Orleans funky jam band with Anjelika Joseph on vocals graces the Steddy Theater at the Center for the Arts for the first time. The Motet – February 11
See this jazz, soul and funk group known for its energetic live performances and massive local following live at the Center for the Arts. The Wood Brothers – February 26

Gothic Mountain Tour – February 27
This Grand Traverse training race circumnavigates Gothic Mountain. Twenty-two miles, 5,000 vertical feet of elevation change and a backcountry yurt finish. It is not for the faint of heart!

Mardi Gras – March 1
The Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce plans to hold a Mardi Gras parade on Fat Tuesday, but this is subject to event approval and permitting. Visit cbchamber.com for event updates.

Move the Butte – March 3-5
The Crested Butte Dance Collective’s wildly creative signature production, Move the Butte! Local dancers, artists and choreographers of all skill levels create this innovative, home-grown show—but you’ll forget these dancers aren’t all professionals. Sells out every year!

Field Trip to the Magic Meadows Yurt – March 9
Join CB Land Trust staff and Colorado Snow Survey hydrologists for a beautiful day of skiing or snowshoeing to the NRCS snow course by the Magic Meadows Yurt. Learn about this snowpack data collection site that’s been in use since 1936! Contact Jess for more details at jess@cblandtrust.org.

Keller Williams – March 10

Chris Pierce – March 13

KBUT’s Yurt Bingo – March 17-18
As the locals like to say, this ain’t your grandmother’s bingo. Ski out under the full moon to the Nordic Center’s Magic Meadows Yurt and enjoy a wild evening of catered dinner and bingo! Competition for cash, gift certificates, KBUT swag and more. Visit www.kbut.org.

Al Johnson Memorial Telemark Race – March 19
In tribute to a rugged 19th century mailman, competitors in wacky costumes and Telemark skis climb 660 vertical feet, then descend 1,200 feet down double-black diamond steeps, some having never telemarked at all. At Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

 

 

 

Ski Town Breakdown – March 19
When you’re done skiing, cruise down to the base area for live tunes, cold drinks, and good vibes at CBMR’s free spring concert on snow at the base of the Red Lady Express Lift.

Pond Skim – March 19
The end of ski season is one last excuse to celebrate, dress up in silly costumes and have wacky events, like the Pond Skim, where contestants skim across water on their skis and snowboards all while trying to put out the best trick.

Anders Osborne + Jackie Greene – March 24
Two gifted singer-songwriters and guitarists leave their bands behind for an evening of sick impromptu jamming. At the Center for the Arts. KBUT’s Disco Inferno (fKA Soul Train) – March 25
KBUT’s Disco Inferno is the radio station’s longest-running special event. Year after year, crowds from throughout the Gunnison Valley don their grooviest digs to dance, party and crown a new King and Queen of Disco! This 21-and-over event is the premier dance party of the year. Visit www.kbut.org.

Flauschink – April 1-3
This annual tradition flushes out winter and welcomes spring with historical slide shows, coronation ball and polka dance, parade and a ski slope salute to the king and queen of Flauschink.

The Grand Traverse Ski – April 2-3
An extraordinary Colorado backcountry route, the Grand Traverse is a point-to-point ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen that kicks off at midnight. Racers travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountain Range, climbing over 6,800 vertical feet.

Closing Day – April 3
The last day of 2021-2022 CBMR Ski Season. Enjoy the sun, some turns and live it up.

Silence of the Amps – April 9
