CBAC Avalanche Awareness Night — December 1 

The Crested Butte Avalanche Center hosts its annual awareness night at the Center for the Arts this year from 5-9 p.m. The evening includes speakers, videos and not one but two amazing raffles. It is a great way to reconnect with friends, learn something new and possibly even win a prize. $10 gets you in the door and all proceeds from the night go to support the CBAC, now in its 24th year of operation. CBAC Beacon Brush Up — December 2 

The Crested Butte Avalanche Center will host its Beacon Brush Up behind the Crested Butte Community School from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be professional guides and our professional forecast staff there to instruct in all things avalanche rescue from basic beacon search skills, to shoveling and probe technique to more complex backcountry scenarios. Best of all, it’s free.

CB Nordic’s Pinnacle Orthopedics Community Race Series is back with races throughout the winter to challenge yourself and have fun! The first race features a 5k Classic and 3k kids’ race.

Light Up the Night – December 9

The town of Mt. Crested Butte hosts its annual tree lighting event with loads of family fun for everyone. Festivities to include, Santa and Snow Queen photos, face painting, cookie decorating, live music, firetruck bucket rides, arts & crafts, and more!

Colorado Crafted — December 9-10

Colorado Crafted connects Colorado artists, artisans, creators and crafters with holiday shoppers, creating a vibrant holiday marketplace at the base area on Mt. Crested Butte tree lighting weekend.

Rock on Ice — December 14-19

Renowned ice carving artists from the group ‘Rock on Ice’ return to the base area to ply their skills in celebration of the holiday season. Join us throughout the process for carving demonstrations and to watch the sculpture garden grow. Guests may then enjoy the sculptures in the base area for as long as they last!

Crested Butte Mountain Theatre presents Dashing Through The Snow — December 14-23

Come see Dashing Through The Snow by Jones Hope Wooten and directed by Mary Tuck at the Mallardi Cabaret Theatre. Show starts at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Tough Enough to Wear Pink Winter Singer/Songwriter Shuffle —December 16

TETWP kicks off its series of winter concerts hosted at the Elevation Hotel & Spa. Join them for the first night of their intimate concert series featuring top country musicians from across the nation. 

Santa Night at the CB Museum — December 16

Join us at the museum store to visit with Santa, decorate cookies and make ornaments from 4-6 p.m. Our gift store is open and stocked with lots of goodies for the holiday season. This is a free event for all, no pre-registration is required.

The Nutcracker [rated CB] — December 16

The Nutcracker, but make it CB! Following the classic storyline of Clara’s adventures, this interpretation of the Nutcracker by the Crested Butte School of Dance at the Center for the Arts will feature dancers of all ages and music from a variety of styles.

Colorado Brass Holiday Concert — December 22

CB Museum Polka Party & Raffle Drawing — December 28

12th Night Bonfire — January 5

Round out the holiday season with this annual Christmas tree bonfire at the Four-way parking lot. If a bonfire is not approved, Christmas trees will be chipped and mulched instead. Visit the cbchamber.com for updates closer to the event.

Town of Mt. CB’s 50th Anniversary History Talks — January 8

The Town of Mt. Crested Butte continues its 50th Anniversary Celebrations with second talk of the series focusing on the history of Mt. Crested Butte and its incorporation as a town. This talk will feature Dick Eflin’s famous slideshow narrated by his son Andy Eflin, followed by a panel discussion about the movement to incorporate the town and a walk down memory lane of the “good ole days” of skiing naked.

MANIA: The ABBA Tribute — January 25

From London’s West End to the Gunnison Valley, MANIA the ABBA Tribute is headlining the Crested Butte Center for the Arts. In an exhilarating, two-hour recreation of one of ABBA’s most memorable concerts, MANIA brings to life the flamboyance of the ‘70s. This includes all of the uplifting, dance-inducing and sometimes heart-breaking songs from the iconic Swedish band, with fantastic costumes, staging, lighting and effects.

The Infamous Stringdusters — January 26

Nashville-based acoustic band the Infamous Stringdusters balance a fluency in old-timey bluegrass and indie jamgrass sensibilities with an emphasis on strong instrumental work plus a sound that’s both organic and groove friendly. At the Center for the Arts.

FEBRUARY

Alley Loop Nordic Marathon — February 3

A Nordic race like no other! Start, finish and pass through downtown Crested Butte with the novel experience of skiing through CB’s quaint streets and alleys. With 42k, 21k, 10k, 5k & 3k/1.5k youth events, there’s a course for everyone!

Blister Summit — February 4-9

Located in Blister’s hometown of Mt. Crested Butte, the Blister Summit is the only consumer-focused gear test and demo event in the world. Test skis and snowboards, talk to industry founders, ski with Blister reviewers, find a new ski buddy or 10 and have a great time!

Natural Selection Tour DUELS Celebration — February 7

The brainchild of snowboarding icon Travis Rice, the Natural Selection Tour features the world’s top snowboarders competing on natural and naturally enhanced terrain to crown the top men’s and women’s all-around snowboarders in the world. Crested Butte Mountain Resort will host one of six YETI Natural Selection DUELS events: a series of head-to-head competitions deciding who will advance to the final two stages of the Tour in Revelstoke, British Columbia. While the DUEL itself is not open to the public, the entire community is invited to celebrate YETI Natural Selection DUELs coming to town with a free concert and party on snow next to Red Lady Express on February 7.

Martin Sexton — February 8

Martin Sexton returns with what Rolling Stone calls his “soul-marinated voice,” acoustic guitar, and a suitcase full of heartfelt songs. At the Center for the Arts. 

Crested Butte Mountain Theatre presents Small Mouth Sounds — February 8 – 18

Come see Small Mouth Sounds by Bess Wohl and directed by Skyler Matthias February 8-18 (no show on Sunday the 11th). Show starts at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

John Craigie — February 9

Portland, OR-based singer, songwriter and producer John Craigie adapts moments of solitude into stories perfectly suited for old Americana fiction anthologies. Instead of leaving them on dog-eared pages, he projects them widescreen in flashes of simmering soul and folk eloquence. At the Center for the Arts.

Town of Mt. CB’s 50th Anniversary History Talks — February 12

The Town of Mt. Crested Butte continues its 50th Anniversary Celebrations with the third and final talk of the series focusing on the history of Mt. Crested Butte and its incorporation as a town.  This talk will feature a panel of current and past Mayors, Councilors and Managers with an interactive trivia game and conversation on the future of Mt. Crested Butte.

Singer-songwriter Brett Dennen takes the stage at the Center for the Arts on February 17. He’s a performer, a watercolor artist and environmental conservationist. 

Gothic Mountain Tour — February 18

This Grand Traverse training race circumnavigates Gothic Mountain. Twenty-two miles, 5,000 vertical feet of elevation change and a backcountry yurt finish. It is not for the faint of heart! 

Move the Butte — February 22-24

The Crested Butte Dance Collective’s wildly creative signature production, Move the Butte! Local dancers, artists and choreographers of all skill levels create this innovative, home-grown show—but you’ll forget these dancers aren’t all professionals. Sells out every year!

Leftover Salmon is back in Crested Butte for one night only in the Steddy Theater at the Center for the Arts! Few bands stick around for thirty years. Even fewer bands leave a legacy during that time that marks them as a truly special, once-in-lifetime type band. And no band has done all that and had as much fun as Leftover Salmon.

The 50th Annual Al Johnson Memorial Telemark Ski Race — March 17 

The Crested Butte Avalanche Center and CBMR are teaming up once again to host one of the longest running local events in Crested Butte. You hike up, ski down and then party. Dust off that telemark gear one more time to take part in a one-of-a-kind event. Proceeds from the race go to support the Crested Butte Avalanche Center.

Opera Colorado — March 25

Opera Colorado’s Opera on Tour program brings an abridged version of Rossini’s Cinderella to the Center stage. Is a bracelet as trusty as a glass slipper? Find out in this operatic telling of everyone’s favorite princess story!.

The Grand Traverse Ski — March 30-31

The Grand Traverse is an extraordinary Colorado backcountry route, a point-to-point ski race from Crested Butte to Aspen that kicks off at midnight. Racers travel 40 miles across the Elk Mountain Range, climbing over 6,800 vertical feet.

APRIL

Dead Head Ed’s End of Season Party featuring Easy Jim — April 4

An end of season blow-out at the Center for the Arts for a good cause! Local favorite Easy Jim performs live to celebrate the end of season and DHE’s birthday — all proceeds benefit the CBCS Enrichment Program.

Flauschink — April 5-7

This annual tradition flushes out winter and welcomes spring with historical slide shows, coronation ball and polka dance, parade and a ski slope salute to the king and queen of Flauschink.

CBMR Pond Skim — April 6

The end of ski season is one last excuse to celebrate, dress up in silly costumes and gather together for fun events like CBMR’s pond skim, where contestants skim across water on their skis and snowboards, all while trying to put out the best trick.

Closing Day — April 7

The last day of 2023-2024 CBMR Ski Season. Enjoy the sun, some turns and live it up.

Closing Day Party with Live Music — April 7

Beer Ski World Championships — April 13

The 3rd annual Beer Ski returns to the Magic Meadows Yurt with CB Nordic. Participants will have the option to enter in a four-person relay or solo.
